NIGHT SESSIONS: REVIEW ON ETHER REAL (FRENCH)

Deison est un artiste italien, anciennement membre du duo industriel Meathead, dont le travail actuel est à la frontière de la noise et de l'ambient. Si son précédent album, en duo avec K.K. Null possédait un son affirmé, c'est clairement du côté de l'ambient que l'on classera cette nouvelle production.

Comme son titre l'indique, Night Sessions a été enregistré lors de sessions nocturnes, avec pour fil conducteur la perception que l'on a, la nuit, de sonorités dont on ne fait pas attention en journée. Si Deison est le principal maître d'œuvre, Night Sessions est en fait le fruit de nombreuses collaborations qui contribuent à la richesse de l'album.
Passé les tournoiements de basses de Senza Spazio, Deison poursuit en solo avec un Sleepless Train que l'on croirait extrait d'un album de Biosphere : minimalisme, pulsations de basses, et field recordings de hall de gare. Malheureusement les compositions solo de Deison ne sont souvent que des interludes qui ne nous permettent pas d'apprécier pleinement son travail.

Dans un registre purement ambient, on saluera par contre sa collaboration avec Scanner sur Bleeding Silence, une ambient-dub, inquiétante dont les voix nous donnent l'impression que Robin Rimbaud a renoué avec ses captations d'ondes radio. Autre belle réussite avec Franck Vigroux pour des ambiances futuristes sur No Suggestions, largement marqué par des bruits de machines et messages en morse, tandis qu'avec Philippe Petit le résultat est plus sombre, à la fois étouffant et moite sur Anything At All.
Il est intéressant par ailleurs d'apprécier le résultat de collaborations avec des artistes venant d'autres univers. C'est le cas notamment de Jim Coleman et Testing Vault dont les influences industrielles sont facilement identifiables sur Hidden Orchestra et Black Light : drones puissants, voix menaçantes, ou plus sobrement l'apparition d'une basse profonde. Teho Teardo systématise quant à lui l'utilisation de guitares sur deux titres avec deux approches différentes : répétition à outrance sur un Swan Crash Two Die influencé par Steve Reich, et mélodies nostalgiques crépitantes sur Morning Blues.

L'album se termine par deux longues pièces, répétitives et hypnotiques. Avec Under the Snow (duo italien habitué du label Silentes) Deison croise violoncelle, cliquetis et souffles métalliques, entre néoclassique et musique industrielle. Il conclue en solo avec une pièce de 11mn d'une ambient linéaire, cotonneuse et ronronnante, ponctuée de craquement réguliers.

Une production assez atypique mais un excellent résultat pour amateurs d'ambient en tout genre.

NIGHT SESSIONS: RECENSIONE SU SENTIRE/ASCOLTARE (ITALY)

Recupero necessario per un disco che sarebbe un peccato lasciar passare sotto silenzio. In primis, perché dimostra la vitalità di un panorama, quello elettronico più oscuro e sperimentale della penisola, sempre più in grado di confrontarsi alla pari con paesi dalla grande tradizione.
Non è un caso che Deison, solo-project in giro ormai da decenni e con collaborazioni e release di tutto riguardo (K.K. Null, Lasse Marhaug e Thurston Moore su tutti), abbia scelto di ospitare per queste sessioni notturne collaboratori e amici accomunati da uno stesso sentire musicale. Scanner, Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop), Philippe Petit, Teho Teardo, Annen Berg ed altri ancora impreziosiscono le 13 composizioni notturne che sono un bignami dello spettro di interessi musicali di Deison. Ovvero, isolazionismo minimal-dark-ambient a base di soundscapes di droning pulviscolare (Bleeding Silence) e corde trattate (Hidden Orchestra), beat ora evanescenti (le malinconie stratificate di Black Light), ora techno-oriented, looping pulsante e glitching urticante ma mai banale (No Suggestions), deep-dub fluttuante e atmosferico, field recordings e manipolazioni elettroniche di stampo noise-materico (Insomnia). Il tutto spesso fuso insieme in un corpus sonoro affascinante e coeso.
A far da collante a una materia in apparenza estremamente eclettica, è però la collocazione "notturna" del lavoro che rende sognante, fluido, oscuro e oniricamente minaccioso il magma montante di ogni singolo pezzo. Ad accompagnare i titoli, l'ora della composizione e/o assemblaggio, compresa in un range che dalle 00:17 arriva alle 04:19 del mattino. Offrendoci subliminalmente una chiave di lettura e insieme più di un suggerimento per la fruizione ideale di un lavoro ricercato e per sua natura visionario.

Estos trece temas grabados por DEISON entre los años 2010 y 2011 se han convertido en una de las más sensacionales sorpresas musicales que me he encontrado entre todos los promocionales que hemos recibido en Lux Atenea Webzine durante todo este año. Deison, concebido como una exquisita e intensa colaboración musical entre destacados artistas internacionales de la categoría de Scanner, Jim Coleman, Franck Vigroux, Philippe Petit, Teho Teardo, Testing Vault, Annen Berg y Under The Snow, nos acaban de presentar este extraordinario álbum, titulado "Night Sessions", como una innovadora propuesta musical donde el eclecticismo dentro de la música electrónica se vuelve esencial para poder dar ese trasfondo vanguardista a unas composiciones marcadas profundamente por la más pura inspiración. Una genialidad a la hora de dar vida a cada uno de estos temas que se siente y se percibe aún con más contundencia gracias a la calidad sonora atesorada en esta maravillosa edición. NIGHT SESSIONS: RECENSIONE SU INDUSTRIAL [r]EVOLUTION (ITALY)

Nelle note di presentazione, Deison dice di aver composto i brani di 'Night Sessions' durante le ore notturne, "quando il rumore del giorno implode in un grande silenzio sormontato da piccoli suoni". E tanto basterebbe per esaurire la presentazione di questo lavoro. Perchè il veterano Deison riesce a confezionare 13 tracce di elettronica minimale, discreta, glaciale, notturna, drammaticamente silenziosa e silente. Grazie ad 'orchestre nascoste' e a 'treni della veglia', il compositore italiano si addentra nelle pieghe delle ore più buie estraendone l'essenza più crepuscolare anche grazie al supporto di preziose collaborazioni con artisti del calibro di Teho Teardo e Jim Coleman (due nomi tra i tanti). I brani di questo album sono la dimostrazione della maestria di un artista che riesce ad esaltare l'assenza di suono grazie a tocchi impercettibili che per estrazione e sottrazione ne sottolienano la paradossale presenza. Se da una parte synth e sample non hanno misteri per Deison, dall'altra 'Night Sessions' si tiene ben lontana da ogni possibile rischio di esercizio manieristico, denotando un'ispirazione che viene rimarcata ad ogni ascolto, grazie ad una varietà di mood davvero impressionante. Consigliato, soprattutto nelle ore notturne.

Doesn't Lose Suction
After that churning heat-blast, Deison's Night Sessions (SILENTES MINIMAL EDITIONS SME 1149) record of ambient electronics is positively glacial and soothing, a big dab of Valderma for my scalded buttocks. For this, 1990s electro-veteran Deison collaborated with a cabal of international Secret Men including Franck Vigroux, Teho Teardo, Philippe Petit, Scanner, Testing Vault, and others. The studio was an obscure rendezvous, everyone wore a cape and slouch hat to get there, and messages were transmitted by code. Track titles like 'Hidden Orchestra', 'Sleepless Train', 'Insomnia' and 'Black Light' are not only quite evocative, but are redolent of this album's themes – the listener is plunged, almost instantly, into a dimly-lit nocturnal environment and starts to hallucinate in a sleep-deprived state, assisted by pulsating lights and the general air of uncertainty. Deison's sounds may not be 100% inventive throughout, but he never sinks into default-keyboard-setting cliches, and this record does hew very closely to its declared themes and its chosen aesthetic blueprint. A true nightowl, Deison has his best ideas after dark and most of this record was made during the night hours, when he is at his most creative. Verily, a Cesare for our times. NIGHT SESSIONS: RECENSIONE SU AUDIODROME (ITALY)

Deison è uno dei due fondatori di Final Muzik (etichetta italiana che si muove nell'ambito dell'industrial music), ha suonato con Teho Teardo nei più metallici Meathead (quel Teardo che ha firmato le soundtracks de "Il Divo" e "Il Gioiellino", per nominarne due), ha intrapreso un percorso in solitaria lungo il genere ambient ed è già apparso su Silentes con un disco realizzato in collaborazione con KK Null, cioè Kazuyuki Kishino degli Zeni Geva: Into (2009), uscita logicamente più noise, illustrata per giunta da un certo Seldon Hunt (uno dei preferiti da Isis, Neurosis e compagnia).

Night Sessions è un altro progetto collaborativo, questa volta con più artisti, sempre diversi, con i quali firmare la maggior parte delle tracce del disco. Grande varietà, dunque, senza che tutto suoni troppo disomogeneo. Deison all'inizio sembra avere l'intenzione di mettere tutti al di sotto di un'unica cappa, ovviamente notturna e si direbbe piuttosto ovattata. In realtà, pian piano l'inquietudine cresce: il fil rouge dell'album potrebbe essere proprio questo giocare su silenzi carichi di tensione. Tralasciando il primo ospite (Jim Coleman dei Cop Shoot Cop in "Hidden Orchestra"), il primo a colpire è Robin Rimbaud aka Scanner: "Bleeding Silence" – notevole nella sua semplicità - è elettronica per galleggiare al buio tra sonno e veglia. Gli incontri successivi cominciano a produrre più attrito: "No Suggestions" è un pezzo nervoso e glitch realizzato con Frank Vigroux, poi tocca agli incubi di "Black Light", suonata assieme a Testing Vault e Annen Berg, al crescendo a tratti reich-iano di "Swan Crash Two Die" (Deison da solo) e a "Anything At All" (presente l'ubiquo Philippe Petit), sinistra nei rintocchi di piano, tagliente nel movimento circolare delle parti elettroniche. Spezza la tensione il "blues" con Teardo, ma ci ripensano Gentile e Favaron (Under The Snow, altro progetto di casa Silentes) a riportare l'amico su terreni più industrial/noise. Ci mette a dormire il solo Deison con "Qualcosa Di Morto", lunga conclusione nella quale tutto è consciamente smorzato e dai contorni non ben distinguibili. Un'altra perla della collana Silentes, avrebbero scritto negli anni Cinquanta.

Aptly named, this. Night Sessions by Cristiano Deison, ex of Meathead, is the perfect soundtrack to lying awake in the pre-dawn hours, listening to your breath rattling through your body and wondering about all those sudden, muffled noises outside. In its warm, amniotic pulse, its sudden outbreaks of unearthly effects and its relentless, subconscious, sentinel throb, Night Sessions spirits you straight to those twilight hours when your imagination is unmoored and the fantastical seems horribly or beautifully possible.
Collaborating with friends and fellow artists including Scanner, Jim Coleman (Cop Shoot Cop,Phyler), and Franck Vigroux, Deison has crafted 13 tracks of uneasy yet dreamy listening. Influenced by Brian Eno, Throbbing Gristle and Nurse with Wound, the somnambulist likes of 'Morning Blues', 'Sleepless Train' and, in particular, the gorgeous 11 minute closing statement, Qualcose Do Morto, perfectly capture an aching, bleary-eyed sensibility, that sleep-deprived state where even a trip to the shops becomes a surreal voyage.
Of course, it goes without saying that this is stoner music par excellence, but if you steer clear of the reefer you shouldn't be put off. Night Sessions is simply first class ambient music, and a beautiful way to spent an hour or so of your life, whether it be in the dead of night or a lazy afternoon. Vor meinem geistigen Auge erscheint ein dunkles Arbeitszimmer, vollgestopft mit Aufnahmegeräten und elektronischen Instrumenten. Vor dem Fenster in der Schwärze, nur von dürftigen Straßenlampen erhellt, ein Fabrikgelände, über das allenfalls ein paar struppige Katzen irren. Und im Zimmer, dessen einzige Lichtquelle der fahle Schein eines Computerbildschirms ist, sitzt mit rotgeränderten, müden Augen ein junger Mann namens DEISON, der fieberhaft bis in die frühen Morgenstunden elektronische Sounds zusammenbastelt.Dementsprechend introvertiert, minimalistisch und idiosynkratisch wirken die Klangzusammenstellungen auf DEISONs Album "Night Sessions": Wie das elektronisch verfremdete Rascheln von Zweigen im Nachtwind, das verhaltene Gepolter auf dem leer stehenden Gelände vor dem Fenster, das Fiepen des Rechners, der in der Stille der Nacht Selbstgespräche führt. Das so entworfene Stimmungsbild ist mehr romantisch als bedrohlich, wenn auch vage düster. Ab und an schleicht sich der Ansatz einer Melodie in die Kompositionen, die genauso unauffällig bereits einige Sekunden später wieder daraus verschwunden scheint; lediglich anzitiert, als sei der Künstler vom eigenen Hang zur Musikalität leicht peinlich berührt. Spielt der Titel "Night Sessions" auf die Entstehungszeit der Stücke an, so verweist er auch gleichzeitig auf die ideale Zeit der Rezeption, sprich: das hier will auf jeden Fall in der Einsamkeit der Nacht gehört werden, in der es geboren wurde.DEISON, der unter anderem bereits mit SONIC YOUTHs Thurston Moore zusammengearbeitet hat, wird auf dieser CD von so unterschiedlichen Mitstreitern wie SCANNER, JIM COLEMAN und ANNEN BERG unterstützt. Die Kollaborationen, die auf "Night Sessions" zu hören sind, wirken dennoch niemals plan- oder wahllos, sondern gut durchdacht und ästhetisch anspruchsvoll. Sie fügen sich außerdem trotz Abwechslungsreichtum zu einem homogenen Klangbild zusammen. NIGHT SESSIONS: REVIEW ON DARK ROOM MAGAZINE (ITALY)

L'italiano Deison, autore di conclamata fama e lunga carriera, appronta un nuovo full-length confrontandosi con stili diversi, alla cui base rimane la passione per quell'ambient tipica di alcune sue vecchie produzioni. A tale variante va aggiunta la presenza di molti collaboratori, che danno all'album sfumature particolari e inaspettate facendo di ogni brano una storia a sé. Come spiegato dal titolo dell'opera, le tracce hanno in comune una calma oscura generata tramite sintetizzatori, leggeri drones e rumori minimali; tale singolarità diventa evidente soprattutto nei cinque pezzi messi a punto dal solo Deison, sorta di pacate colonne sonore che sfiorano tenui melodie segnate da derive glitch e sognanti audio-dilatazioni ("Qualcosa Di Morto"), in grado a volte di ricordare autori del calibro di Badalamenti ("Senza Spazio"). Nei restanti brani la matrice elettro-acustica diventa la partner ideale di tonalità diverse, che vengono unite per affinità o in contrasto alla calma di base. Vecchie tastiere e motivi di chitarra vanno ad aumentare la vena malinconica in "Hidden Orchestra" (realizzata con Jim Coleman), in "Black Light" (in coppia con Testing Vault) e in "Morning Blues" (assieme a Teardo). Ma è l'intensità uditiva di "Swans Crash Two Die", assemblata ancora con Teho Teardo, a fornire il picco sperimentale e qualitativo dell'intero disco, grazie ad un accumulo di materiale acustico ed elettronico che viaggia in sincrono. Ulteriori variazioni arrivano coi cadenzati riverberi di "Bleeding Silence" (a cui partecipa Robin Rimbaud), con il glitch-noise in tono minore di "No Suggestions" (insieme a Franck Vigroux), con le fredde e sparute note di piano di "Empty Dreams" (in collaborazione con Philippe Petit) ed infine coi prolungati boati e la meccanica linearità di "Insomnia" (in coppia col duo Under The Snow). "Night Sessions" è una piccola prelibatezza per palati esigenti, costruita con l'esperienza e il gusto di un autore che conosce a fondo la sua materia e la perfeziona con l'ausilio di ospiti scelti. Su Silentes le Night Sessions di Deison, il quale assembla un trasognato e notturno radio-programma in tredici segmenti, con ospiti Jim Coleman, Teho Teardo, Scanner, Under the Snow e altri. Non una chill-out compilation di routine, bensi' un variegato alternarsi di fluttuante deep dub downtempo, drone e glitcherie ambientali, scabri soundscape e minime trame techno, il tutto amalgamato con sapienza dai loop, field recordings e trattamenti elettronici dell'autore. Non c'é pericolo di "conflitto di interessi" se mi appresto a segnalare questo "Night Sessions" della mia "dolce metà" di Final Muzik; dovete sapere che, riguardo le sue uscite discografiche, il bel ex-Meathead mi tiene
meticolosamente all'oscuro nella completa disinformazione fino a fatto compiuto. "E' uscito il CD", esordì settimane fa quando andai a trovarlo. "Quale CD?", gli chiesi; "Il mio nuovo CD", mi disse. "Un tuo nuovo CD? Cioé?", gli chiesi; "Quello su Silentes", chiosò magistralmente il buon Deison. Tornato nella mia tana dopo avergli sventolato bandiera bianca, ho subito ascoltato questo nuovo lavoro, composto da tredici pezzi che trovano il loro corso (come
da indicazioni di copertina) "quando il suono é amplificato dal silenzio". Non sapevo cosa aspettarmi: nuove intuizioni a svecchiare ambient e sperimentazione? Qualche balzo in avanti a ridefinire una moderna elettronica stanca di troppi "click'n'cuts"? Queste registrazioni sono, invece, il bypass per il commento a zone d'ombra e a sensazioni nate durante le ore notturne. Sin dai titoli, l'atmosfera é rivelata dalla presenza di silenzio che sanguina, di
luce nera, di orchestre nascoste da ascoltare parlando sottovoce ("Speak Low").
Mancanza di spazio, la quiete grave di notti insonni: Deison rappresenta persino il nulla ("Anything At All") e addirittura "Qualcosa Di Morto". L'elettronica ambient di "Night Sessions" nasce da una sofferta contemplazione
domestica ma, rispetto ai lavori precedenti, cerca maggiore comunicazione, spesso con sorpresa gettando un ponte verso l'ascoltatore con synths, drones chitarristici e decine di altre fonti sonore abilmente trattate per il progetto. Un campionario di suggestioni elettroniche senza luce che sembra opera di un'unica testa ma che si avvale, risultando così un lavoro ben più complesso, di alcuni ospiti che non potevano non lasciare un proprio segno: fra
questi, il pluripremiato Teho Teardo, l'ex Cop Shoot Cop Jim Coleman, Philippe Petit, Scott Jackson (Annen Berg), Testing Vault e il progetto dello stesso Stefano Gentile di Silentes, Under The Snow.

Many out there, probably can't remember Cristiano Deison played keyboards and samplers for Meathead, later he started his own solo carrier which among other things has brought him to cross his knobs with KK Null and to share a split with Thurston Moore. Does he need international credits to have more credibility? No way! Maybe it has probably helped him to reach a broader audience, above all his wonderful collaboration with KK Null, but as far as I concern Deison was a good musician from his early recordings and this cd (despite presenting a good amount of collaborations) testifies that again and again. He started as a dark ambient musician and he's slowly evolving his style, both his last collaboration and this new work shows he's experimenting to evolve his music. The majority of the tracks have a sort of quasi-electronic ecstatic feel. The sound definition is good, few sounds the reach the climax during the evolution of the track, drones, bleeps, guitar drones and synths have been used parsimoniously but with a hell of a taste. The atmosphere is melancholic but not depressive, it's one of those recordings that demands a relaxed night listening. Deison is probably reaching his full blossoming period. "Night Sessions" is the new cd from Deison, a collaborative project featuring several international friends/artists as Scanner, Jim Coleman(Cop Shoot Cop,Phyler), Franck Vigroux, Philippe Petit, Teho Teardo, Testing Vault, Annen Berg, Under The snow who contribute with sounds, processing and recordings.
13 tracks from ambient electronica to dirty sonic soundscapes mainly assembled during the night time.
A cinematic journey that captures the silence of the night when all the sounds are amplified.

REVIEW FROM VITAL WEEKLY:
The next batch of Silentes alphabet of 'silent' music from Italy's finest experimental musicians. The first is Deison, who is mostly known from a more noisy end of the musical spectrum. That is not the case on this release. The music is rather quiet, in line with the series, I guess, of looped electronic sound sources, but its all rather 'low humming', so perhaps not easy to tell. The b-side is also looped based, but here the material is definitely louder and stems from the world of industrial music. Sheets of metal reverberate in a large hall - that sort of images are evoked here. The somewhat more obscured a-side is what I preferred, but both sides are actually quite good. It shows what Deison is capable of. (FdW)

Il Centro di aggregazione artistico culturale Art Port di Palazzolo dello Stella riapre le sue porte alla pittura dal vivo. Dal 28 settembre al 24 ottobre si terrà infatti la terza edizione di “heart(h)”, l’happening che porterà in riva al fiume Stella artisti provenienti da tutta Italia . Dal 28 settembre al 2 ottobre sarà possibile assistere all’interno del salone espositivo del Centro al working in progress delle opere di grande formato realizzate da Ericailcane, Martina Merlini, Arianna Vairo, Violetta Testacalda, Mosa, Oko. La manifestazione, organizzata dall’Associazione Art Port in collaborazione con l’Ambito distrettuale di Latisana, si inserisce in un più ampio percorso artistico che allarga i suoi confini alla grafica (Pier Paolo Febbo, Pelo, A_Ifano, Ryts Monet, Gaetano Spinagli, Zitronat Zitrone, Lucio Barbuio, Harsa, Cristina Urban, Rame, Why, Naka, Sofia, Vania) e alla fotografia (Ültra, Silvia Di Natale). Cinque giorni, dunque, dove alla realizzazione delle opere si uniranno concerti, istallazioni (108, Maba degli alberi, Grimm, 2dipikke), video (Emanuele Kabu, Totstellen) e performance di vario genere. Ma in questa edizione maggiore spazio verrà dato all’aspetto musicale. Il primo appuntamento della rassegna, in programma per venerdì 1 ottobre, a partire dalle 22, sarà dedicato infatti alle musiche curate da Deison, Larva 108, Len, Grmmsk. Suoni protagonisti anche nel giorno seguente. Sabato 2, alle 18, l’inaugurazione vera e propria di “heart(h)” con la presentazione delle opere e della mostra degli artisti verrà accompagnata dal live dei Japanese gum, e a partire dalle 21, dall’esibizione dei A cold dead body e dei Last minute to jaffna, a seguire selezione musicale a cura dei Djs apatija.

INTO : Review on SideLine

"Into" is the fruit of the common efforts of 2 long-time servants of the experimental scene. This is the union between Deison (Italy) and KK Null (Japan). "Into" starts with mysterious sound vibes surrounded by dark, tormented atmospheres. The debut is quite fascinating, but this is just a prelude to a well-conceived and achieved piece of music. Tormenting, linear sounds hold onto the listener from start until end. A selection of glitch sounds and other experimental outbursts have been implanted to the dark compositions. The linearity of the composition is a constant element running through the tracks, but it always ends in pure stupor and tormented sonic manipulations. That's for sure what makes the attraction of this work. It sometimes gives the impression to endure sound waves from outer space. "To" is a quite representative cut in the genre, but I also want to mention the efficiency from other tracks like "18" and "Beyond". I've not always been convinced by artists working over the net, composing and decomposing music tracks, but this duo did a great job. "Into" is an accomplished piece of modern experimental music!(DP:7)D side-line.com

INTO : REVIEW ON CHAIN D.L.K.

I'm sure many of you have already both the musicians but for those lucky (or unlucky) readers under thirty, we must remember that Cristiano Deison beside being involved directly with Final Muzik and after having put out a good amount of interesting releases during his solo career, has also been a member of those Meathead where one of his band mates was mighty Mauro Theo Teardo. KK Null for those who don't know him is one of the three Zenigeva heroes: noise masters, industrial rockers and famous for having records out on Neurot, Alternative Tentacles and with Steve Albini. This is a freak power work, you can get it right from the cover, I was sure it would have been an interesting collaboration but it really blew me away. I'm sure many of you could have expected both of them would have gone along with the peculiarities of each other. If you add their characteristics are quite complementary you can imagine the result could have been easily guessed, infact if the japanese musician was more oriented toward cold electronic sounds, the italian was more drone oriented. This collaborative recording gave us a dense blend of music that instead of following the noise route like everyone else is doing drifts voluntarily toward electronic music. Cold electronic music, sure, but at the same time really expressive, I'm tented to mention Panasonic above all for their audio profile and not exactly for the music they play, heavy and dense electronic shapes that you usually expect on labels like Touch. An high profile release, listen carefully to the production and to the recording where every frequency doesn't cross the scene with leaving a sign. Every track is meant with the clear idea to put out something that sounds differently if compared to the plethora of releases overwhelming the experimental musical scene. This all happens without becoming one of those self-indulging work searching for "originality" at every cost, every song has its own identity both individually that as a whole. The title track itself is the epitome of this cd, but the sharp sounds, the digital layers and the crepuscular drones leave room to some quasi melodic solutions there to alleviate the listening difficulties. A real orgy of good taste that moves linearly in suspension between the finnish forests and the twilight zone and at the same time able to be "warm": amazing release!.

INTO : REVIEWS ON THE WIRE AND ROCKERILLA

Released as part of the Silentes Minimal Edition Series of CD's, Into is the latest in a on-off-set of collaborations, splitting releases and conspiracies between Italian noise artist Deison and Tokyo's Kazuyuchi Kishino,aka KK Null.
Null is best known for work with self-styled progressive hardcore unit Zeni Geva.Here ,though, they explore a kind of glitchtronica that typically sits more in Deison's realm.
The soundscapes occupy a glowering hinterland between sound and noise,silence and presence.
"alone" is a persistent driving drone gurgling with blackened glitches,like the sound of a robot's intestine.
"Intramuscolo" has the quiet pulse of a life support system approaching exhaustion,while "Not fade away" edges toward the point where silence and sound meet and the one and zeroes of a digital sound collapse into a subatomic murmur.

Gia' il titolo "into", mette nell'avviso, suggerendo un conectto di percorso interiore e rapita entropia. A conferma i 52 minuti di musica raccolti nel nuovo cd di deison e KK Null sono una full immersion nelle spire di un isolazionismo acustico dove prendono vitaforme di manipolazione elettronica raffinata che allungano flussi di atmosfere aeriformi e cicli di frequenze/rumore liofilizzati in frazioni di nano-composizione estrema.
In altre parole minimalismo spinto, l'infinitesimalmente piccolo che si insinua nelle pieghe oscure della dimensione suono per generare eventi uditivi prossimi all'impercettibile, salvo poi a divampare in estemporanee d'azione piu' sostenuta, controllata, come sempre, dalle tecniche binarie di oscillatori e sequncer.
L'effetto d'insieme e' quantomeno obliquo e straniante.

INTO : REVIEW ON VITAL WEEKLY#716

Quite an extended part of the work of KK Null deals with collaborations, such as with Z'EV, Alexei Borisov, Zbigniew Karkowski, Jim O'Rourke and loads more. His primary instrument was once the drums (as with his bands Zeni Geva and Absolute Null Punkt), but in these collaborations Null deals with electronics. Here he teams with a man who met him fifteen years ago, when he was setting up concerts for Zeni Geva in Italy: Deison. He has worked with Lasse Marhaug and Sshe Retina Stimulans and ran the Loud! label. They collaborated, I guess, through mail, sending back and forth sound material. If you'd expect some heavy noise based stuff, then you are mistaken about the work of Null (and perhaps of Deison too, but I must admit I don't know his work that well). It moves these days from brutal noise attacks to very clean, mild, almost ambient like works and this work is a fine example of that. The closing piece is 'To' and quite brutal, feedback like. In the nine pieces before this we have been on a great journey of electronic music. Always abstract, always electronic, but almost never the same thing twice. From soft passages to loud ones, from clicking, rhythmic sounds to dense fields of waving electronics. Its all there. A great variety is presented here, which for once doesn't stand in the way: this remains a very coherent release. It may not appeal to the pure noise heads, but it should broaden their mind a little bit, I guess. Great one. (FdW)

INTO : REVIEW ON BLOW UP #141 AND RUMORE #217

KK Null, tra le massime istituzioni dell'area sperimentale del sol Levante, ha approntato con un'altro, a questo punto, veterano, il nostro deison, una collaborazione a distanza concretizzatasi in "Into". L'album ha partenza eccellente con la cupa "In", colma di inquietanti presagi e non tradisce la suddetta premessa con l'assai elevato spessore della drammatica e ascendente "Alone", del loop trance di "intramuscolo", della malcelata profondita' romantica di "Not fade away", degli ondeggiamenti cosmici di "Beyond", della visionaria "To" che con baluginii cristallini ha il compito di chiudere l'alchemico circolo, uniti in una persistente sensazione di continuativo tragitto recata da glitch che pressoche' costantemente si agitano sullo sfondo come creature aliene che attraversano le invisibilita' tra un brano e l'altro. Per festeggiare un lustro di attivita', la Silentes Minimal editions di Stefano Gentile ha curato un monumentale box limitato con tredici nuovi albums e vari bonus. Tra i cd, disponibili anche singolarmente, si segnala la collaborazione italo-nipponica di Deison e KK Null in "Into", raccolta di preziose texture, loops e astrazioni elettro-rumoriste, combinando glitch e registrazioni sul campo con la grazia di origami cibernetici in continua, simmetrica metamorfosi. Sounds are conceived thru loops, fields recordings and manipulated tapes then edited thru various softwares.

DEISON ON PUBLIC RECORD

Deison appear on Public Record's project, "What is the sound of the war on the poor? vol.3" a collection of one-minute sound recordings that respond to the question. The pieces are a rich variety including field recordings, mini-hörspiel, electroacoustic abstractions, sound-bite collage, mash-ups, spoken rants, and just about everything in between.
